Tetzaveh | You Shall Command תְּצַוֶּה
Our readings this week are called Tetzaveh (Exodus 27:20–30:10). In this week's portion we see a shift the focus from the structure of the Tabernacle to the men who will minister within it. The dwelling has been described — now the priests must be prepared. God commands that pure olive oil be brought to keep the lamp burning continually, and then He turns His attention to Aaron and his sons: garments, anointing, consecration, and daily offerings. 🔥
Tetzaveh teaches that sacred space without consecrated people is incomplete. The light must be tended. The garments must reflect glory and beauty. The altar must not be neglected. Order in the house of God requires order in the servants of God.
Notably, Moses’ name is absent in this portion — a quiet but powerful reminder that leadership is not about prominence but obedience. The focus is not the personality of the leader, but the continuity of the light and the faithfulness of the priesthood.
The message is direct: Presence is sustained through devotion. The flame does not stay lit by accident. It is tended by disciplined hands. 🕯️
Tetzaveh calls the Assembly to examine this question: If the dwelling is built, are the ministers prepared?
